Since WooCommerce launched in 2011, WP e-Commerce's popularity and development pace have declined considerably. Its most recent stable release is version 3.15.1, and its own WordPress.org listing was closed as of February 16, 2024 due to an unresolved security issue, meaning it can no longer be freshly installed from the official plugin directory. In practice, WP e-Commerce today is mostly found on older stores that never migrated away from it, rather than on new store builds.
