Feed Rules

Change any field, for any product, on every sync.

Feed Rules rewrite titles, fix prices and set labels with simple if-then logic. Combine them with Product Score and 4T segments to send each channel the products worth paying for.

Rule · High-value products to push
Runs on every sync, before each channel export

What it does

If-then logic for your whole catalog.

A feed rule is an if-then instruction that Feedance applies to your product data before it goes to a channel. Choose which products it touches with conditions, then choose what changes: a text format, a calculated value, a currency format or a label.

  • Works on any field in your feed, including Feedance labels
  • Runs for every product or only for products that match
  • Set per channel, so Google and Meta can get different values
  • Leaves your source data unchanged
How it works

Four steps from idea to live feed.

  1. 01
    Pick the field
Choose the field to change, for example title, price or custom_label_0.
  2. 02
    Add conditions
Match products with AND or OR conditions on any field, such as g:price greater 1000 or g:availability equal in_stock.
  3. 03
    Choose the action
Format text, calculate a value, fix a currency or set a label.
  4. 04
    Apply to channels
Turn the rule on for one channel or all of them. It runs on every sync from then on.
Rule types

Text, math and currency, in one place.

Text rules
Uppercase, sentence case or first-letter capitals. Trim long titles, add prefixes and suffixes, fit character limits.
title → "Crew neck T-shirt | Free shipping"
Mathematical rules
Add, subtract, multiply and divide fields. Adjust prices, calculate discounts or build custom metrics.
sale_price = g:price × 0.85
Currency fixes
Add currency codes, set decimal points and thousands separators so prices match each market.
g:price → "29.99 USD"
Use cases

Rules that move budget toward what sells.

The labels Feedance writes, such as product_score, segment_4t, price_war and broken_size, can be used in any rule.

Exclude Toxic products
Stop paying for products with high traffic and low return.
IF segment_4t equal Toxic
THEN exclude from export
Push products that earn
Label high-scoring products so campaigns can give them more budget.
IF product_score ≥ 70
THEN custom_label_0 = push
Hold back broken size runs
Keep styles with only a few sizes left out of prospecting campaigns.
IF broken_size equal true
THEN custom_label_1 = broken_size
Flag where you lose on price
Separate products where a named competitor is cheaper.
IF price_war equal more_expensive
THEN custom_label_2 = price_loser
Fit Meta title length
Keep titles readable in Meta placements.
IF channel equal Meta
THEN title = truncate(title, 65)
Format prices for Meta
Price as number, space and ISO 4217 currency code.
g:price = format(g:price, "29.99 USD")
FAQ

Questions about Feed Rules

How rules work and where they apply.

How do text manipulation rules improve my product feeds?

Text manipulation rules ensure your product data is clean, consistent, and visually appealing. They allow you to capitalize text, add prefixes or suffixes, trim lengthy titles, and more. This not only improves readability but also helps meet platform-specific formatting requirements.

Can I customize rules for different platforms?

Yes, Feedance allows you to create platform-specific feed rules. For instance, you can optimize product titles for Google Shopping while formatting descriptions differently for social media ads. This ensures that each platform gets a feed tailored to its unique requirements, maximizing your product’s performance everywhere.
