4T Segmentation

Four segments. One clear action for every product.

4T Segmentation places every product in Top, Tolerable, Tranquil or Toxic from its own traffic and return, then writes the segment into your feed so each channel can treat it differently.

What it is

Two signals decide where a product sits.

Traffic tells you how much attention a product gets. Return tells you what that attention brings back. Put the two together and every product falls into one of four segments, each with a different job in your campaigns.

Segments are built from each product’s own performance data, the same product-level data behind Product Score, and they refresh as that data changes.

  • Every product gets exactly one segment
  • Segments refresh on every sync, so products move as they perform
  • Each segment comes with a recommended action
  • Works in Google, Meta, TikTok and 200+ channels through the feed

Segment distribution

In one catalog, 89% of products were Tranquil.

In a 38,010-product fashion catalog, a small group carried the results: 8.4% of products were Top and 0.6% Tolerable. Another 2% were Toxic, drawing traffic without bringing it back.

Playbook

One playbook per segment.

Use the segment to decide where each product runs, not how much you bid. Your campaigns keep their bidding strategy; the segment decides which products they include.

Into your feed

Segments reach every channel as labels.

Feedance writes each product’s segment into your feed as an attribute and a custom label. Every channel export carries it, so Google, Meta, TikTok and 200+ channels can build campaigns and product sets around it.

Questions about 4T Segmentation

Need more detail? Read the full FAQ.

What is 4T Segmentation?

4T Segmentation places every product in your catalog in one of four segments, Top, Tolerable, Tranquil or Toxic, based on its traffic and return. The segment is written into your feed so channels can treat each group differently.

What do Top, Tolerable, Tranquil and Toxic mean?

Top products have high traffic and high return. Tolerable products have low traffic but a good return. Tranquil products have low traffic and low return. Toxic products have high traffic and low return.

How is a product’s segment decided?

From two signals measured per product: traffic, the attention it gets, and return, what that attention brings back in add-to-carts, purchases and revenue. The same product-level data is behind Product Score.

How often do segments change?

Segments refresh on every feed sync. A product moves to another segment as soon as its traffic or return changes enough.

Should I exclude every Toxic product?

Not straight away. Check price, stock and landing page first: Price War and Broken Size often show why a product does not convert. Exclude it from prospecting until it recovers.

Does Feedance manage my bids or budgets?

No. Your campaigns keep control of bids and budgets. The segment tells them which products deserve the spend.
