HomeDeco (HomeDeco.nl) is a Dutch marketplace for the home & living sector, covering interior decoration, furniture, garden products, and toys. It started in 2015 as an inspiration platform built around styling photos and blog content, then switched to a full marketplace model at the end of 2018 so visitors who spotted a product in an inspiration photo could buy it directly. In 2021 the platform was acquired by the V&D webshop brand. HomeDeco operates as a closed, invite-only marketplace — new sellers apply through HomeDeco's own onboarding page and are vetted before they get a partner account, rather than signing up self-serve.
For a Feedance user, this matters because HomeDeco is not an open ad platform or comparison engine you connect to automatically — it is a curated seller marketplace, and your product feed only starts working once HomeDeco has approved your shop as a partner.
HomeDeco gives approved sellers their own branded 'shop' on the marketplace, shown alongside inspiration content and styling photos rather than a plain search results grid. Because HomeDeco pairs product listings with editorial/inspiration content, a well-structured feed that includes rich descriptions, imagery, color, and material data tends to get more visibility inside that content, not just in on-site search.
Keeping your HomeDeco listings synced from the same feed you already maintain for other channels means price and stock changes on your own webshop propagate to HomeDeco automatically, instead of being updated by hand in a separate partner dashboard.
Unlike open marketplaces, HomeDeco vets sellers before granting access. According to HomeDeco's own seller terms, approved partners pay a one-time onboarding fee of €299 for account and dashboard setup, plus a standing commission of 20% (excluding VAT) of the sale price on every product sold, deducted from monthly payouts. Sellers are also expected to ship orders within 2 business days and respond to customer questions within 1 business day, and HomeDeco charges a standard return-shipping cost of €5.75 (excl. VAT) per return unless otherwise agreed.
Feedance does not change these commercial terms or the approval process — it only handles generating and maintaining the product feed once HomeDeco has accepted your shop as a partner.
Per HomeDeco's own integration documentation, sellers can connect in one of three ways, in increasing order of automation:
XML
CSV
Most sellers who reach HomeDeco through a feed-management tool like Feedance use the second option: a hosted XML or CSV feed URL, which is also the format expected by third-party connectors (ChannelEngine, EffectConnect, Comercia Connect, ProductFlow) that some sellers use to manage HomeDeco alongside other Dutch marketplaces.
HomeDeco's own documentation lists a minimum set of fields plus a longer set of optional fields that its partner platforms (e.g. ChannelEngine) map when generating a feed. Mapping more of the optional fields is explicitly recommended by HomeDeco's integration partners because it increases product visibility and conversion on the marketplace.
Once HomeDeco has approved your shop as a partner, connecting through Feedance follows the same feed-first model HomeDeco itself documents:
HomeDeco's own seller documentation states that a submitted feed is 're-read every night,' so treat a daily refresh as the baseline cadence to plan around for price and stock changes reaching the live listing. If you reach HomeDeco through a connector platform, the connector may regenerate its own export more frequently (ChannelEngine's HomeDeco integration, for example, refreshes its file on an hourly cycle) — but that only controls how current the file is; HomeDeco's own polling of that file is what ultimately decides when a change goes live, and HomeDeco does not publish an exact polling interval beyond the nightly read cited in its own docs.
For sellers who need price or stock changes to reflect faster than a nightly cycle, HomeDeco's optional API includes a dedicated stock-and-price endpoint, separate from the base feed, intended for exactly this kind of near-real-time update.
Public documentation of HomeDeco-specific error codes is limited, since HomeDeco does not run an open developer portal with a published error-code list. Two concrete, sourced failure modes are worth flagging:
A separate, structural point worth knowing: ChannelEngine's guide states that 'HomeDeco does not provide feedback via the API' on product status — meaning there is no automated error report to check the way there is with, say, Google Merchant Center's diagnostics. Sellers generally need to check their partner dashboard or contact their HomeDeco account manager directly to find out why a specific product isn't listed.
These are general feed-hygiene practices, not documented HomeDeco requirements — apply them as good practice on top of the confirmed rules above.
Can any seller list on HomeDeco? No. HomeDeco is a closed marketplace — you apply through its seller onboarding page and are approved before you get partner access.
Are there fees to sell on HomeDeco?Yes: a one-time €299 onboarding fee for account/dashboard setup, plus a 20% (excl. VAT) commission on every product sold, per HomeDeco's published seller terms.
What feed format does HomeDeco accept?A hosted XML or CSV feed file is the standard approach; manual Excel upload and an optional Bol.com Plaza-style API are also available.
Does the feed need to be in Dutch?Yes — HomeDeco targets the Dutch market, and product data (including descriptions) must be in Dutch.
How often does HomeDeco pick up feed changes?HomeDeco's own documentation says feeds are re-read nightly; sellers needing faster updates can use the optional stock-and-price API endpoint.
What happens if my products don't get listed?HomeDeco does not send automated error feedback through its API, so check your partner dashboard or contact your HomeDeco account manager to diagnose issues like an incorrect category mapping or missing GTIN.
