Hintaopas is a Finnish product and price comparison service where shoppers compare prices, stock status and shipping costs across close to 900 online stores operating in Finland. It runs on the same basic idea its parent company started with in 2002 as a small project in Ängelholm, Sweden: help people see when they'd be overpaying before they click buy. Hintaopas.fi is the Finnish storefront of that group, which trades in Sweden as Prisjakt and today runs comparison sites in seven countries with over 220 employees.
Consumers use Hintaopas for free; the revenue comes from merchants, and specifically from the click, not the listing. Ownership of the group has changed hands over time -- most recently from Schibsted Marketplaces to the investment firm eEquity in 2025 -- while the Finnish business continues to operate locally as Prisjakt Finland Oy.
Every product on Hintaopas comes from a merchant-submitted feed, not from crawling stores' websites, so visibility depends entirely on keeping that feed live, current and accurate. Being listed puts a product in front of shoppers who are already comparing prices for something specific they intend to buy -- a further-down-the-funnel audience than most display or social advertising reaches.
Basic listing on Hintaopas is free: your price appears in the comparison table at no cost per click. Paid packages add a clickable "go to store" button, your logo, campaign tools and better placement, billed on a pay-per-click basis at rates that vary by product category.
Beyond the free basic listing, Hintaopas sells three paid packages that differ mainly in how often your feed is refreshed and how fast support responds -- both of which matter directly for a price-comparison engine, where a stale price or a sold-out item shown as available wastes the click you paid for.
Gold is the only tier priced on request rather than published; Bronze and Silver are billed per category-dependent click rate on top of the base package.
Hintaopas asks merchants to submit their catalog as an XML or CSV feed, hosted at a URL you control, and states that this feed should follow what its own merchant documentation calls "Google Merchant standards" rather than a Hintaopas-only schema. The feed is registered and reviewed inside Business Center, Hintaopas's merchant portal; per Hintaopas's own onboarding description, a submitted feed is checked after your agreement is signed, and results typically become visible within 2-3 hours of approval.
We could not verify a Hintaopas-specific field dictionary, file-size cap, or string-length limits directly from Hintaopas: its detailed schema is hosted at a separate technical subdomain that returned a certificate error on every access attempt during this research, and no cached or alternate copy could be reached either. Where Hintaopas's own pages are silent on specifics, treat Google Merchant Center's attribute and formatting rules as your working reference, since that is the standard Hintaopas itself points to.
Because Hintaopas explicitly ties its format to "Google Merchant standards," the fields below are the Google Merchant Center-style attributes a feed built to that standard would include. This is not a verbatim Hintaopas document -- it's the external standard Hintaopas has adopted by its own description -- so treat field names as a strong starting point to confirm once you're inside Business Center, not a guaranteed Hintaopas spec.
Feedance builds and hosts the XML/CSV feed URL that Hintaopas's Business Center pulls from, so you don't have to construct or maintain the file by hand.
Hintaopas's own packages set the ceiling: Bronze and Silver merchants get three feed pulls per day regardless of how often you push updates, while Gold is the only tier with real-time updates. If you're on a free listing or Bronze/Silver, there's no benefit to exporting from Feedance more often than three times daily since Hintaopas won't pick up the extra syncs -- but it's still worth exporting at least that often, ideally timed just ahead of Hintaopas's pulls, so price and stock changes land as soon as the platform allows. If you're on Gold, sync as close to real-time as your own store's data allows, since Hintaopas will reflect it immediately.
These are general feed-hygiene practices worth applying on any price-comparison channel, not claims specific to Hintaopas:
Is listing on Hintaopas free?Basic listing is free -- your price appears in the comparison table with no cost per click. Paid Bronze, Silver and Gold packages add visibility features and are billed per click.
How fast do new products appear after I submit a feed?Per Hintaopas's own onboarding description, after your agreement is signed and your product data is approved, listings typically become visible within 2-3 hours.
Does Hintaopas have its own unique feed format? Its merchant documentation describes the required format as following "Google Merchant standards" rather than a separate Hintaopas-only schema; we could not access Hintaopas's detailed technical schema directly during this research.
Who owns Hintaopas?Hintaopas operates as Prisjakt Finland Oy, part of the Nordic Prisjakt group founded in 2002. The group was owned by Schibsted Marketplaces and was acquired by the investment firm eEquity in 2025.
Who do I contact about a merchant feed issue?Hintaopas's own pages list a merchant-acquisition contact and general merchant support channels, plus a separate address for banner/advertising requests -- check your Business Center account for the current contact assigned to you.
